Ramon Castro is a proud Miami Dade College alumni and holds a Master’s degree in Corporate Business from Florida International University. After finishing his graduate studies, he launched his own construction company, which later grew into a successful consulting firm. As the business expanded, Ramon became interested in using business intelligence, programming, and artificial intelligence to make better decisions and improve how things run. This interest led him back to MDC, where he’s now working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics and is set to graduate in Fall 2025.
Ramon has years of experience working in hurricane-affected areas. He has assessed damaged properties for homeowners, insurance carriers, and attorneys involved in litigation. He has also led teams focused on stabilizing and rebuilding structures after storms. This hands-on experience sparked his interest in working with NOAA to develop predictive models using machine learning and contribute to research that could improve disaster response and planning. He is working with mentor Lew Gramer in the HRD division at NOAA AOML this summer.
He enjoys helping others who are studying similar subjects and is currently building AI and analytics projects that are both practical and fun.
