Symposium Info

The Caribbean and South Florida face severe and acute challenges from our changing climate and shall continue to experience worsening impacts well into the future. To address the human-centered aspects related to climate change in these regions, on April 7, 2021, from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST), the University of Miami will host a virtual symposium entitled Sub-Tropical and Tropical Coastal Resilience: Social, Economic, and Physical Adaptations in South Florida and the Caribbean.”

The symposium will be organized into three broad themes: Mobility, Metabolisms and Resilience. Click on images below to learn more.

Registration information

This multidisciplinary event shall bring together scholars, government, community, and professional practice leaders to explore the lessons from the Caribbean and South Florida, as well to discuss their applicability within and beyond the region. 

We welcome a broad range of paper, project, and presentation submissions, including human, social, cultural, and design responses across multiple frameworks, interactions, and topics.
